The story of Pygmalion spectacles starts in a world that could be our own.
The main character is a young man who has been approached by a professor who
tells him he has created a new form of media. They are a pair of glasses which
you wear which gives you a fully immersive story. You will see, smell, hear,
taste and if you accept the story even feel. The boy is interested and so
agrees to try it.
Once the glasses or on we find ourselves in another story and one that is
written in such a way that while you always know it is the fantasy of the
goggles you can allow yourself to believe might be something more. One of the
best things about this is that the author didn’t put the character into a
typical movie or book plot but into something that is closer to what a person
might actually use this type of technology for, not an action adventure story
but interaction with an interesting place and character. The place is Paracosma
which has no death, no pain or suffering but does have strict rules and by
breaking those rules there can be difficulties. The only other real character
is Galatea a young girl who he falls in love with during the course of the six
hours he spends with the goggles on. […]
